Where this site stands
Last updated: 16 August 2026.
Some pages on It may contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.
Not every link here is an affiliate link. Many point to sources, manufacturers or documentation, and we earn nothing from those. Where a guide names a brand or model, it is there to explain a feature or a trade-off, not because anyone paid for the mention.
A commission never buys a recommendation. Where a cheaper option, or buying nothing at all, is the right answer, that is what you will read here.
Disclosure comes before the recommendation
Any page containing affiliate links will carry a clear disclosure at the top of the page — above the recommendation, where you will see it before you read it, not buried in the footer or in small print at the bottom. Individual affiliate links will be identifiable as such.
It never costs you more
An affiliate link means the company pays a commission on a sale that came through this site. It does not add anything to your price, and it does not change the deal you get.
Money does not buy a recommendation
- No product can pay for a mention, a positive review, a score, or a ranking in a comparison.
- Products are recommended on their merits, and their weaknesses get stated alongside their strengths. A comparison in which every option is excellent is a sales page, not a comparison.
- Where a genuinely better option pays nothing, the better option still gets the recommendation — including the case where the honest answer is "you do not need to buy anything for this."
- Editorial decisions are made before commercial ones, in that order. See the Editorial Policy for the standards that apply either way.
Sponsored content would be labelled as sponsored
If any content were ever paid for by a third party, it would be labelled as sponsored or paid, unambiguously, at the top. It would not be presented as an ordinary tutorial.
This page gets updated first
If the commercial position of this site changes, this page is updated on the day it changes — not retroactively, and not once someone notices.
Why say all this before there is anything to disclose
Because it is easier to write these rules now, with nothing to lose by them, than later, with a commission cheque on the table. A disclosure page that appears only after the money starts arriving tells you nothing. This one is on the record from the start.
Questions
If anything on this site ever looks like an undisclosed commercial relationship, please say so via the Contact page. That is a serious complaint and it will be treated as one.
