What wpnotar.com collects, why, and how to have it removed. Written to describe what this site actually does — comments, contact form, and server logs. No analytics, no ads, no tracking.

This policy describes what personal data wpnotar.com collects, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It describes what this site actually does today — not a generic list of everything a website could possibly do.

wpnotar.com does not run analytics software, does not serve advertising, does not use tracking pixels, and does not sell or share your data with anyone for marketing. The rest of this page is the detail.

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and this site is encrypted in transit.

What this site collects

Comments

Comments are open on posts. When you leave a comment, this site stores:

  • the name, email address and website address you type into the comment form;
  • the content of your comment;
  • your IP address and browser user-agent string, which WordPress records automatically to help with spam and abuse.

Your name, comment, and the date are shown publicly. Your email address and IP address are not published — they are visible only to the site administrator.

If avatars are displayed alongside comments, a hashed version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service so that an avatar can be shown. Gravatar's own privacy policy applies to that; you can read it at automattic.com/privacy.

If you leave a comment, your browser may save your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to retype them next time. These are a convenience only, they last up to one year, and you can decline or delete them in your browser at any time.

Contact form

If you contact us through a form on this site, the details you submit — such as your name, email address and message — are stored in this website's database and may also be emailed to the site owner, so that your message can be read and answered. That information is used to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. It is not added to any marketing list.

Web server logs

Like almost every website, this site's web host records standard technical information about requests: IP address, the page requested, timestamp, browser and referring page. These logs are generated and kept by the hosting provider for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting, under the host's own retention schedule. They are not used to profile visitors.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content — for example a video, or an embedded WordPress support thread. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly: that site can collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content. Their privacy policies apply, not this one.

Logging in

Accounts on this site are for the site's own administrator only; there is no public registration. Login and screen-preference cookies are set only for logged-in administrators.

What this site does not collect

To be explicit, as of 17 July 2026:

  • No analytics. There is no Google Analytics or equivalent visitor-tracking software installed on this site.
  • No advertising. No ad network, no ad cookies, no retargeting.
  • No affiliate tracking. This site carries no affiliate links at present — see the Affiliate Disclosure.
  • No newsletter or mailing list. There is no email list operating on this site at present. If one is added, this policy will be updated before it collects a single address, and signing up will be opt-in.
  • No data sales. Your data is not sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Who your data is shared with

Nobody, other than the service providers this website cannot function without:

  • The web host, which stores the site's database and files and therefore holds comment and form data on our behalf, and which generates the server logs described above.
  • Gravatar, in the limited case described under Comments, if avatars are enabled.

Data may also be disclosed where we are legally required to do so.

How long it is kept

  • Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up comments can be recognised and threads stay readable, unless you ask for removal.
  • Contact form submissions are kept for as long as they are useful for handling and following up your enquiry, and are deleted on request.
  • Server logs are retained by the hosting provider according to its own schedule.

Your rights over your data

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data this site holds about you;
  • send you an export of it;
  • correct it if it is wrong;
  • delete it — WordPress provides built-in tools for both export and erasure, and a request will be actioned using them.

Deletion does not extend to data we are obliged to keep for legal, security or administrative reasons. Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights — including under the GDPR if you are in the EU or UK. Whatever your location, the requests above are honoured.

To make any of these requests, use the Contact page, or write to: [CONTACT METHOD — owner to confirm]

Security

Reasonable measures are taken to protect the data this site holds, including serving the site over HTTPS. No website can promise perfect security, and this one will not pretend otherwise.

Children

This site is aimed at adults who run their own websites. It does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information here, contact us and it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes the site as it stands on the date below. If the site starts doing something new with data — analytics, an email list, affiliate links, advertising — this page will be updated to say so, and the date below will change. Material changes will be visible here rather than announced quietly.
